Bomb Cosmetics, Sky High gift set

Sky High Bomb Cosmetics

Let me start off by saying thank you to my wonderful friend who purchased me this box as a Christmas/Birthday gift. She had seen my blog and thought it would be perfect for me to be able to review. She was right, as always. So as I’m sure you’ve guessed, I can’t comment on the purchasing side of this box. I had no dealings with the company directly but I will attach their website here: http://bombcosmetics.co.uk/ and for this particular box the link is: http://bombcosmetics.co.uk/skyhigh

It apparently cost £14.99, which I shouldn’t know and I hope my friend doesn’t kill me for looking this up! I did it for review purposes only so you can blame my readers, not me! The products are all handmade and use essential oils only. They also don’t test on animals which is great! Although, not all of the ingredients are natural, only where possible.

The packaging is stunning, its wrapped in a way that you feel like everything inside is a luxury item. I’m not a fan of the use of plastic to wrap them, but that might just be the Eco side of me talking. I did think it extracted from the overall look of the product, but that’s just my issue with plastic. The smell when you open the box (even before you open it) is amazing. I keep the box at the bottom of my wardrobe before I used them all and it made everything smell great.

As I’ve mentioned before though, I do not own a bath, only a shower. So these products are being used as bath soaks instead. Please bare that in mind when your reading as I can only comment on how they are as foot soaks. This means they will dilute a heck of a lot more in your bath then they do for me in my little dish tub that I use for my feet. Before I begin, here is what is to come. A list of the product details from the leaflet that comes with the box. This comes in different languages.

The Chai High Bath Mallow was my starting point. If I’m being honest I found the smell of this one a little overwhelming. My room stank for days and it just smelt like an overpowered cleaning product. It left my feet feeling oily and I didn’t get any of the ‘nourishment’ that was being promised in the booklet. The only good part was the little fake flower on top that I use to decorate my noticeboard. It’s cute! I loved the design of it but was disappointed with it overall.IMG_1950

My next foray into this box was with the Incense & Sensibility Bath Blaster. Which I Have to say, love the name. I’ve unfortunately been studying a bit of Jane Austen in my lectures this week along with other Victorian writings and so a product that plays on the title ‘Sense and Sensibility’ seemed appropriate. The smell of this one is a little more to my taste, not overpowering but subtly floral. I was a bit worried when I placed it in the water and it pretty much became a mass of foam but, it was very relaxing. It did still leave my feet very soapy though and I image this is going to be common with these products.

It’s been a long week of working and stress so I thought I’d treat myself to the Miss Tangleberry Bath Buttercup bomb. Its light scent was perfect to calm my stomach which has been rolling a bit today. Frankincense and Sandalwood apparently. It’s a nice size, and didn’t take as long as the others to dissolve. It’s a very pretty and vibrant blue, even in the water. Again, quite soapy but It left my feet feeling really soft.

For the finale, I went for the massive Pink Rhubarb Princess Whoopie Blaster. This is a beast. If you’ve ever had the rhubarb and custard boiled sweets, then you’ll know what this smells like. Honestly, the best smelling yet. My only negative is that it has glitter. I’m not a fan of glittery products because the stuff ends up going everywhere. I’m not too bothered though as I’ll be leaving University in two more weeks so it won’t be me hoovering it from the carpet for the next few months. This is my favourite so far and I wish I’d kept the top half so I could use it on two separate occasions. Still very soapy but I actually don’t think it’s as bad as the previous ones. I have uploaded a video of this onto YouTube to show how fizzy it goes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bnnNEDx9hk

I didn’t have the time to use the soap as my previous Passion fruit soap from my treat trove box is never ending. So, the soap has been bestowed to a flatmate. It smelt amazing and judging by its size; it will last for months.IMG_1951

All in all, it was a lovely relaxing box. I don’t think I could use them as bath bombs without irritating my skin as they are very soapy and fragranced. If I had used them in the bath I can almost guarantee that I would get Thrush. So, if you have sensitive skin like myself, maybe just use them as foot soaks. I would like to try a few different scents in future and I especially would be interested in purchasing more soap so I can try it.

It’s a nice little gift box and if you’re looking for something to buy for Christmas, birthdays, or even as a small pick me up, this would be a nice little box for you. Please go and check out the website: https://bombcosmetics.co.uk/ or their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Bomb.Cosmetics/?fref=ts

Please excuse the poor photos as I have been using a dish washing bowl as my foot spa. Doesn’t make for the prettiest of pictures.

Thanks as always for reading! My updates should increase after the deadlines are over. The World of Wizardry box should arrive in the next few days so that will be up when it gets here.

Leak Freak review

I’ve had two Leak Freak pads for a few months now and have to say I love the unique shape of them. They are made by a lady called Kaysie Martin and all of the shapes are unique to her store. It’s quite difficult to get hold of her pads and the best way is to join her Facebook page and keep an eye out for group orders or waiting lists. I was lucky and managed to get hold of my two pads. The link for the page is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/leakfreak/

My first pad is in the shape of Ariel from the Little Mermaid and she has a few in these Disney character patterns I especially love the Ursula shape as well. The shape itself didn’t work for me and I have sold it on to another pad lover since I purchased it, I sold it for less then I paid as it’s not right for me to make a profit from someone else’s hard work! It was still a very slim pad it just had too much of a flare for me as I’m quite narrow. I loved the pad though and wish I could have kept it but it deserved to be with someone that can use it.

As for my second pad, this Walking Dead cotton topped pad has fast become one of my favourites. It’s a diamond shaped pad that has great coverage. It’s just a little too long for me to wear during the day but it’s the perfect pad for overnight. I believe it was a moderate pad but I have comfortably worn it on heavier days and I haven’t noticed any problems with leaking. I don’t wear it on my heaviest days but I do push its boundaries a bit. I do find that if I have a heavy night then there is a little risk of blood gathering nearer the wings so I am conscious that it’s a moderate and not a heavy. I really wish it was a heavy for that little extra security, next time! Let me stress this though, it hasn’t leaked through. It contours to your body perfectly, really soft but still holds its shape well. Not too thick and not super thin. Really comfy pads and I would love to try some of her other styles. This one is cotton topped so it does that a few washes to get this best of its absorbency, maybe wash it two or three times before you use cotton topped pads.img_1294

Kaysie also has a YouTube channel that has a lot of informative videos, some great reviews on there. The link is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMrbaJrWnoLRjOzmbbVny7A

She prefers front bleeder style pads so if you tend to leak over the fronts of your pads her videos would be great for seller recommendations. I’m quite central for mine so it’s not an issue I have. She goes into details on styles and shapes that are best suited for this type of bleeding so she will be a great source of information.  She’s really nice so don’t hesitate to ask questions via Facebook! The maker of one of my favourite pads which you be seeing a lot of in my period blogs so get used to the sight of it! Now I just need to find a way to get even more! As far as i’m aware she does post Worldwide just make sure you tell her your international before your invoiced! She’s based in the US though so keep that in mind for your postage costs.

Thanks as always for reading!

Pad Thai cloth review

DSCF2322 (1)Ok I have finally gotten around to reviewing my Pad Thai cloth pads. I purchased these a few months ago now and have been able to get a feel for the pads. I ordered two different pads in the same size and absorbency here is the link for her etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PadThaiCloth?ref=ss_profile I had learnt about this maker through her YouTube channel and really wanted to try her stuff. The videos are brilliant and a great help for those starting out with cloth or looking for recommendations so please check them out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJfVrKcVxWfm3cLFMAz09Uw

I really wanted to try crushed velvet pads as I’d heard a few people talk about them in various videos that I watch and was curious about how they would work for me. I had previously ordered a pad with the same topper from Spindelpads which I have also reviewed in the past here: https://charlieblogweb.wordpress.com/2016/07/13/spindelpads-review/ (please ignore the fact that my earlier blogs are now missing images as they were deleted by mistake). These pads arrived around the same time and I tried them out on different cycles.

img_1776The pad is gorgeous, it’s soft and it’s a great shape and the colour is a lovely shade of blue. I just don’t trust the topper. I’ve used it a few times now to see how I feel and I am still conscious that it’s not absorbing and will start to leak. I will stress the fact that it hasn’t leaked so far and I have worn it for close to three hours on a heavyish day and it was fine. I think it’s the fact that I find the fabric feels a bit wet so I don’t feel as though enough is being absorbed but it must be because it isn’t leaking. So it’s just that this topper isn’t one of my favourites, I will continue to use it though just not on the heavy days I don’t think. Again very comfortable and fits great in the undies, no bunching.IMG_1557

The second pad was one that I really couldn’t resist. The racing horse print in the lovely blue cotton. It’s a pad I use every cycle if I can and I’m having to consciously not reach for it as I want to try other makers. This like the other pad is a moderate and I believe they’re both around 9”. It has coped on my third day very well and I’m still fairly heavy at that point. I don’t tend to reach for it on my earlier days just because I like to have a little more cover on those days. It fits really well in my undies and whilst I can feel it’s there i’m not overly conscious of it’s size. The cotton is nice and soft even after a few washes and I feel secure when I wear it. I also purchased the little pad pouch which I use all the time to keep a spare pad in my bag for those ‘just in case’ occasions.

Both pads are of a high quality and really well made. The lady that runs Pad Thai is very easy to talk to and is lovely. She has a group on facebook that is very active and you can meet a lot of lovely ladies on there so please take a look: https://www.facebook.com/groups/padthaicloth/

She goes in to a lot of details about reusable products and is a great source of advice. I may not have gotten on very well with the crushed velvet but if you haven’t had a chance to try it then I recommend seeing what you think for yourselves as you might enjoy how soft they are. If not, then she offers a brilliant range of toppers and has some great patterns to choose from so check her out!

Thanks for reading!
