Period blog May 2017, and WIWTM

I’ve given you all a lovely 6 week break from overly personal blogs. Now we’re back, so all of you readers that are weak of heart and grossed out by the ‘joys’ of the female reproductive organs, look away now. I wish I could but, unfortunately, I have to live through it.

Anyways, I have been on the pill for the last 6 weeks whilst I have been on holiday and so it’s been a great break from bleeding, cramps and overall feeling rubbish. On the second week of the pill I had some slight spotting that only lasted a day as well as a bit of cramping but nothing too bad, just enough for a liner to be worn. On the sixth week leading up to my coming off the pill I had breakthrough bleeding. This was proper bleeding rather than spotting. I took my last pill on Saturday and remained light through to Tuesday, that’s when my stomach started to get crampy. It wasn’t too bad, but I could only be out for half an hour before I wanted to sit down with a hot water bottle.

Things really started today, Wednesday. I knew it was going to happen and I woke up at 5.30am feeling really crampy and uncomfortable. I couldn’t face food which meant that I couldn’t take anything for the pain, I was also in too much pain to be able to leave my bed for a hot water bottle. It was an uncomfortable half an hour before I managed to eat half a biscuit and take my ibuprofen, which still wasn’t enough food for these tablets but I was desperate. I managed to fall asleep again and woke up at 8.30am to get my hot water bottle, finally. The cramping had eased a bit but had not disappeared. In fact it has been like this all day. I’m fine if I’m sat down but even then I go through painfull bursts. I did manage to have some cereal and take another dose of painkillers at 12.30, which was later than I wanted to leave it but again, I wasn’t able to eat anything. Food makes my stomach cramp even more, and usually leads to me getting a mild case of the runs. As it is, going to the bathroom is not fun at the moment, I am fairly heavy and it just isn’t fun. Thankfully, I am not at work this week otherwise things would be so much worse. I wouldn’t have been able to go in today even if I had been on shift. I’ve taken some more painkillers but I’m still not feeling great, my head is pounding as well. Think I might just call it a night and head to bed, at 7.30pm.

Its Thursday and things are still quite heavy. The cramps have calmed down a bit, they only flare up when I’m tense or standing up for too long. To avoid being tense I spent the morning watching good old family films like, The Secret Garden. It made me feel a bit better if nothing else. My head did start to become achy again around 2pm but I didn’t take any painkillers for it. I caved and took some around 4pm when it felt like my head was being crushed. Its helped a bit but I think it’ll be another early night tonight. On the plus side, I still have an appetite which is unusual for this point in my period. Also, my cramps haven’t been crippling today. I have managed a trip to Tesco and to pick mum up from work. If it wasn’t for my head, I would actually feel pretty good. Oh and the gushing of blood that is exiting my vagina, that makes me feel a bit crappy as well.

Friday brought no cramps. I actually feel human again. I’ve had occasional headaches but nowhere near what its been for the last few days. I’m not as heavy anymore either, still not light though. With the cramps having vanished, I’ve started feeling a bit drained, think I might try to keep up with my early nights in the hopes of getting my energy back in time for work on Monday. This week off has gone by far too fast, I’m not ready to go back to work just yet.

Strangely enough I have been really light today, verging on spotting. I feel like I went from fairly heavy to almost non-existent overnight. I haven’t had anymore cramps but I have felt a bit bloated and queasy today, either its something I have eaten or it’s the last dregs of my period leaving my system. I really hope its all over for Monday, I can’t face another shift at work when I’m crampy and irritable, pretty sure my co-workers and the patients don’t want a grumpy Charlie either. I’ll leave this blog here as my period is coming to a stop. I will take the pill again tomorrow night and will likely be on it for another 6 weeks due to where my shifts are falling. I really am hoping to update more, especially with holiday reviews and even a craft update or two. Its just getting the time and motivation to sit down and write after this last year of Uni work. I will try though.

Period blog March/April 2017 & WIWTM

It’s been a while since we last had one of these posts. Hopefully you all know the drill by now, look away oh innocent ones. Look away if you have zero interest in my uterus or reproductive system, as this won’t be something you want to read.

Okay, now this month is a bit of an odd one. As you have probably noticed, I missed a month. Due to my pain and collapsing my GP has asked that I try going on the pill. It’s something that I have tried in the past without success but I figured I might as well give it another shot as I was going to take the pill for my holiday (vacation) next month. I have been put on microgynon 30, which is what I usually use without having any problems. The only downside I have is that I usually have worse pain when I come off them. Unfortunately, the first 3 weeks has ended and I’m due to start any day now. I am not looking forward to this. I am taking my normal Magnesium, drinking Raspberry Leaf tea and praying that I get through this coming week.

The weeks on the pill didn’t really show any issues. I took it on the day I was starting, but hadn’t fully started in order to stop the period. I had spotting for the first few days and had to wear a liner but it did stop the period. I usually take it on the last day of my period so this was new to me. Not used to spotting whilst on the pill. I did feel bloated and a bit achy the first week, but my stomach has been off all year so I don’t know if it was being made worse by the pill or just an ill-timed bad week. The last week I have been getting niggling headaches so I hope those stop.

I started noticing a very small amount of spotting today (Tuesday) but not really pink yet. Still have a liner on just in case and I’m going to take ibuprofen before bed tonight to try and ward off the cramps. Nothing bad yet, still have a bit of a headache, took my anti-nausea pills and I’ve been fine. I’m crossing everything in the hopes that tomorrow will be the same.

I didn’t really start overnight but there was still some spotting. I took some ibuprofen starting from lunch when I started to get a bit crampy. I had a module meeting about my lectures for next year that I couldn’t miss and so I was hoping for things to hold off until after two. Thankfully things didn’t really get too bad. I took Raspberry Leaf tea to the talk as well as a small hot water bottle (I looked so cool) and it kept the cramps at bay. I do unfortunately live on campus which is at the top of a lot of stairs and a steep hill which made my cramps worse. They definitely haven’t been that bad today though, uncomfortable, but manageable. I have started fully now and still okay to get food if I need too. Usually I can’t stomach food on the first day so not too bad so far. I’m going to take more painkillers before I go to bed just to make sure I don’t get too crampy overnight but I’m hopeful that tomorrow will be easy going.

Only had a few milder cramps today, they’ve been fine with the hot water bottle but I took some ibuprofen earlier as a precaution. I’ve not been very heavy, even overnights weren’t too bad, maybe that will change tomorrow? I seem to have changed from my usual two days of being heavy followed by three moderate days and two or three light days. Now, I’m moderate at the start. Not sure if that will stay the same for every cycle or not. I have still got a headache, a mild one but it’s annoying as I’ve had it for the past week now. Ready for that to leave me alone. I’m not going to take any more pain killers before bed, but I will get a refill on the bottle just in case but so far so good.

It’s been an odd day today. I woke up feeling pretty good, I’m still lighter than I expected and my cramps haven’t picked up. I feel a bit achy, not enough to take painkillers but enough that I feel a bit uncomfortable. I even managed to go for a walk but still couldn’t climb the hill back to my flat easily. As its getting a bit later my headache is getting worse. I don’t want to take painkillers because my body rebels if I take them for too many days in a row. The headache is definitely more of a problem then my stomach though. I’ve made a GP appointment for Monday just because it doesn’t seem to be going away. Don’t think it’s cycle related, probably stress due to deadlines next week, but it’s best to be safe. I’ve stayed light through today, think it must be a side effect of the pill because this isn’t normal for me.

Today has been a very unproductive day which really isn’t good with my deadlines being so close. The headache is still here and I’ve felt quite queasy today as well. Not been in the mood to do anything, including my assignments. On the up side, the cramps have gone. Had no cramping at all today and I’ve stayed fairly steady. Still on a moderate flow, but more of a spotting moderate if that makes sense. It’s been pretty easy going. I am craving chocolate which is unusual for me. I’m actually not a big chocolate eater, thankfully I have some left over from Christmas so I was sorted otherwise I would have had to go out. Back on the pill tomorrow night whether the bleeding stops or not so it’s been a success for my first cycle on contraception.

I had spotting for the first few days of being back on the pill and then it stopped completely. I’m away on holiday soon so there won’t be a period blog for another 6weeks or so, whenever the pill ends next. I am hoping to blog about my holiday once I’m back but a going to be away from technology for a bit. I have also finished my second year of university now so the craft updates and pad reviews should resume soon. Here is a photo of all but one pad that I wore this month, the one missing is my purple Tortoise Wing Things as it is still in the wash basket.

Period blog Feb 2017

Look away people of delicate sensibilities; for the time is once again upon us to be educated. Educated in the wonderful world of…menstruation. For those of you that were unaware of this beautiful and natural phenomenon…it fuckin’ sucks!

So once again I’m not on time. I was due to start on Saturday the 28th but low and behold, still nothing come Monday. I have to say I’ve had pretty bad PMS this cycle. Been extremely moody the last few days and really have to apologise to anyone that has been in contact with me. I’ve probably sounded a bit mental. Other than moods I’ve been achy and to be honest, a little bunged up. Not a pleasant few days. Bloating, aching and farting on top of being a bit all over the place emotionally. Not had PMS this bad in quite a while.

On the plus side, I have been taking, Magnesium (395g), Vitamin C & Zinc (Boots drink), and Vitamin D, for the past month and this is my first cycle where it had a chance to enter my system. Might not make a difference for a few months but I’m hoping for less cramping.

Six days after I was due to start I think Aunt Flo is finally here. Now cramping yet, but I’ve been feeling a bit achy for the last few days, almost like a pulled muscle ache. If I move wrong I feel slight cramps but when I relax they go away. A little strange but not bad and I’ve still been able to go about my daily business without any problems. I have had a bit of spotting today so I expect to fully start overnight tonight. That will be when the cramps and runs usually hit so fingers crossed that they don’t come. On the plus side, its Saturday tomorrow so I have time to wallow in pain and self-pity.

Wow, so the cramps certainly did show up. I woke up feeling a bit crampy but not too bad, thought I could do without painkillers and just cuddle my hot water bottle. Unfortunately, the cramps became worse and I took my ibuprofen, just not in time. I was completely crippled, couldn’t move or think and the cramps then set off my stomach making me need the toilet. I made it to the bathroom only to collapse once I was there. It was terrifying. I couldn’t move and I had nobody to contact for help, had even left me phone by my bed so I couldn’t call anyone. I had a panic attack which didn’t help my pain and I very nearly passed out but not sure that I did. It took me almost half an hour before I could move from the bathroom floor where I then collapsed onto my bed in agony. At this point I did pass out and woke up an hour later. Thankfully, if I didn’t move, the painkillers were working at this point so I managed to get a small bowl of cereal in order to get something in my stomach. I spent the entire day in bed as I was shaking and dizzy and generally felt crap. I really need to go to the doctors about this, it’s happened twice now and really isn’t pleasant.

On day two I still feel a bit shaky and have taken some more tablets to keep the cramps at bay but not nearly as bad as I was yesterday. I haven’t eaten much and food doesn’t taste very good at the minute as my stomach doesn’t want any. I’m drinking plenty of water though. Plus, side of things is that I’m really not heavy so far. I go heavy for about half an hour and then light for a few hours. It’s not bad to be honest now that the cramps are settling. I still feel shaky and haven’t been able to do much but I’m hoping that has passed so I can get back to classes tomorrow. I have a deadline soon and haven’t got time for feeling rubbish.

The third day wasn’t too bad, I have three two hour lectures on a Monday so that caused a few issues for me. I felt a bit queasy all morning and started cramping a bit by lunch time so I took some painkillers then, but only the two tablets all day. I was a bit too achy to make my third lecture, which I could have struggled through but decided I’d rather not risk ending up like I had been on the Saturday. The painkillers worked pretty well for the afternoon and my hot water bottle cured the rest. So an uneventful day really, fairly light for this part of my cycle which is the same as last month. Maybe I am lightening a little? Who knows.

The fourth day lead to my heaviest day so far. I think it may be because I’ve been on my feet quite a bit today so all the walking might have got the juices flowing so to speak. No cramps! Which was fantastic, a bit of back ache but it was laundry day so that was expected. I’ve not been overly queasy and managed a pizza, so my stomach is fairly content at the minute. Still not as heavy as usual, I used to be changing pads every hour, now its every 4-5 which is brilliant.

For some reason, even after I spent all day yesterday cleaning and doing laundry, my body wasn’t quite ready to sleep. I drifted off around 6am this morning and woke up at lunchtime. I’m barely spotting now so think things are coming to an end, I’m hoping the achy body is from the lack of sleep and being uncomfortable all night rather than an illness, again. I’ve not been crampy today and my headache hasn’t hit like it has been for the last few months. Hopefully, it’ll leave me alone after the crappy start to this cycle. I am a little queasy and my stomach is a bit off, but again I think it’s my body settling down after a rough period. I’m going to risk only wearing liners today, not going out so at least there won’t be any embarrassment if things pick up again.

It’s over, no spotting what so ever, still feel a bit achy and dizzy so I’m assuming I have a bit of a bug but other than that I’m okay. Getting a bit of a headache though, I swear I feel worse as I’m coming off my period then when I’m coming on. Oh well, another month over. Sorry but the picture doesn’t include all the pads worn this month, still need to do another load of laundry.

Period blog Dec/Jan 2017 WIWTM

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas as well. This post is one that doesn’t appeal to everyone so again don’t read if you’re not interested in periods, or anything menstruation related as this will likely freak you out. img_1952

This period was due on Christmas day which was a worry as that is also my birthday. Thankfully I was once again late. I actually started on New Year’s Eve. Not the best way to welcome in the new year, with stomach cramps and an upset stomach but I suppose it could have been worse. I wanted to try a new Magnesium spray that my mum bought, it’s supposed to help with joint pain and muscle aches and thought it might help with my cramping. It was a bit useless to be honest, I left it for about an hour before I had to take painkillers and even they didn’t help for a good two hours after taking them. I’ve also been really queasy with no appetite and a bit dizzy. All in all, the first day of 2017 has been a bit rubbish.

Day two hasn’t been too bad, in fact, I actually managed to go out for a nice long walk which usually isn’t possible on the second day, not without drugs anyways. No painkillers taken today and I have had a few niggly cramps but not crippling. I’ve felt achy rather than full cramps which is manageable. I’m not too heavy but on the verge of being. I’ve felt drained and queasy so I think the walk did me some good. Got me out of the house before I’m back at work tomorrow. All in all though, a nice day.

Day three, and strangely, no problems again. I’m not upset about the lack of cramping but wow this is weird. I was really light and got away with using one pad through until maybe 2pm when I swapped just to feel fresh. It has been a manic day at work, short staffed and constantly on my feet so the lack of stomach cramps was a blessing. I don’t think I’ve ever been this busy on a period day and not suffered for it, I really hope this sets a trend for 2017! Unfortunately, my overall health has been a bit bad, not sure if I have a bug or am coming down with something but I feel ill. Not enough to stay home but enough that I just feel bleh. It’s not just me but mum as well so I know it’s not period related but I hope it’s gone by Friday as I’m travelling back to the university then.

Day four was the same as three. Still ill but no cramps and a very light flow. Its lightened so much tonight that I might swap over to liners, very strange for it to be ending on the fourth day, maybe my body is tricking me and the second I swap to liners I’ll go heavy? Please let this be my new cycle!

I thought I’d be safe to go without liners today as there was nothing overnight or all through the morning, so I thought I was free. Unfortunately, as I said before, my body was playing tricks. Thankfully it was just spotting but very annoying. Feel okay though, went on another nice walk, but have a niggling headache forming.

I still have a little spotting today which still makes it a six day period. My head feels a bit like its been split in two and I feel awful, not ill, just bleh. I’m travelling back to University today and really am not looking forward to the flight and bus journey. Ready to curl up in bed and its only 5pm.

I made it, still have a headache, and will probably have it for a few more days as I believe its hormone related. Another nice perk of menstruation. I don’t have any spotting today; the only thing left is the headache which I’m hoping to sleep off. Only used 14 pads this cycle!

Period blog/WIWTM for September 2016

Once again we have reached that time. The time I tell you all to look away if you have no interest in my cranky uterus. Yes, it’s period time.

So once again my cycle is late. I’m pretty thankful this month as I was due to start on the 16th which was also the day I was flying and messing around getting back to University, so it would have been awkward. I did get a bit achy on the day but that was probably just stress aches rather than actual cramps. In fact, I’ve been a bit achy all week since as I’ve been full of a cold, snotty nose, sneezing and everything. I felt pretty sure I was going to start on the Tuesday so I wore my new Harry Potter liner from Tortoise Wing Things, very comfy but wasn’t needed.img_1775

I did start a week and a day late rather than the two weeks it has been for the last few cycles. Yesterday I felt a bit bloated and a tiny bit achy so I put a liner on just in case. My Happy Hippos liner was a bit longer then I’d normally wear but was comfy enough to wear around the flat. img_1770

There was a bit of spotting so I knew it was imminent and so after my shower last night I put one of my little Essence of Eve liners on as a just in caseimg_1777

I was a bit worried that overnight it would start out heavy as it does that sometimes but thankfully it was just spotting. This usually becomes really heavy once I get out of bed and start walking around a bit and so I swapped over to my Huggally Wuggally Harry Potter pad.

img_1767Strangely I haven’t fully started, it’s very strange for me to still be spotting or at least very light on my first day. I had to nip out to the laundry and my HugWugs are a little thick for me to be comfy wearing them out and about, they’re my lazy pads. I swapped to my Sailor Moon Phoenix Rising pad which seems fitting as I’ve been binge watching the series over the last few days. Poor Sailor Venus won’t know what hit her, literally ha! It’s the afternoon now and I’m still very light but I’ve had to take some painkillers for my stomach as I was starting to get quite crampy.

I was hoping to avoid too many painkillers this cycle as I was wanting to see if Magnesium soaks work but so far they haven’t. I’ve been soaking in Magnesium once a week for the last few weeks and might increase the amount of times for my next cycle. Thought I’d try a few herbal and vitamin type remedies for pain relief, but haven’t managed to buy them yet. The rest of the day was pretty much just spots of brown rather than red. It’s a little strange, but no cramps after I took the painkillers earlier. I’m now really worried that everything’s going to hit in the night and I have my first day of classes tomorrow. I’ve put my Unicorn hugwug pad on just in case as it’s comfy and a moderate to heavy pad so it should hold up to Niagara Falls if it takes place.img_1766

So there wasn’t a blood bath in my bed this morning which is great. I did wake up at 4 due to a noisy drunk hammering on the main door to the building and checked to make sure I was secure. I was still spotting slightly at that point (odd!) and didn’t need to change so I went back to bed for a few hours. I was feeling a bit queasy and crampy when I woke up and took some painkillers with my breakfast. Also I was bleeding a lot more then I had been so far. It hasn’t been extremely heavy yet and so I put on my Pad Thai crushed velvet pad for going to my first class.

img_1776 I was expecting to get a lot heavier as the morning went on and I did swap over to a heavy Essence of Eve pad after that first lecture as I was feeling a bit uncomfortable. No leaks or anything, just aware that I needed to swap. I left this pad on for the afternoon, so from 11 until around 3pm and I have been fairly heavy this afternoon and still no leaks. I love those pads! A bit crampy though so I haven’t moved much since I returned to my flat and have just cuddled with a hot water bottle. No more painkillers so far! img_1768Anyways, I swapped over to my new All Fluffed Up pad that has a straight front and rounded back. It’s pretty comfy so far and doesn’t have much movement so there’s hope for it to be a go to pad in future. My cramps have settled down for the afternoon but I’ve kept my hot water bottle heated at all times. If I can avoid horrible cramps completely I’ll be really happy.

img_1769 I’m starting to feel a little crampy this evening and I’m really tired so I’ve had a shower, changed into my pink elephant comfort cloth scrundies and Beauty and the Beast Crimson Moon pad and curled up for an early night. No classes until the afternoon so hopefully I’ll feel a bit more human tomorrow.

I did feel a bit more human when I woke up which was great. Also even though I had become a little heavier in the night I still wasn’t overly heavy. This cycle is being very strange! I swapped over to my new pique pad that I received in a trade and it’s my first time using that material and I’m in love. I’m ready to start doing another pad order! I left this moderate pad on from 10am through to 3pm and have been checking to see how it held up and no leaks at all! It also doesn’t feel wet or uncomfortable, I want more!

img_1774 I did have to swap it out at 3pm as I was heading to a class so I put on one of my OBV Tortoise Wing Things pad which is really thin and comfy. I did get a little crampy this afternoon especially once I’d eaten but I haven’t taken anything today and it didn’t last too long.img_1773

I’ve been a bit heavier through the afternoon but the pad held up really well! I swapped over around 10pm to a pair of Huggally Wuggally scrundies and my animal All Fluffed Up pad. An early night again tonight I think.

So today I woke up feeling a bit rubbish and so I didn’t really move from bed for a while. I’d only been spotting slightly so I stayed in the same pad from the night before and my pyjamas for the day. Yes, sounds gross but I honestly barely moved all day. I did have a shower later on and swapped over to my Walking Dead Leak Freak pad and then had an early night. Thankfully there was nothing that needed doing. Illness wasn’t period related as I’ve been ill for a while and it comes and goes, but it doesn’t half knock me down for a day or two.img_1764

Woken up with a bit of a headache this morning but I have classes today so I got straight up and showered. Again only very light spotting overnight, might get a little heavier during the day but to be honest it should just come to a stop this evening, I hope. Anyways I put on Lily and Leo Avengers pad for the day and feel pretty good, other than the headache.

So through the afternoon I steadily started to feel more nauseous and a bit woolly headed. So it looks like I’m going to have to head back to the doctors yet again as I’ve been like this since April and it’s still not sorted! Sick of feeling ill! On the plus side, no cramps and even though I’ve been heavier than I thought I would be, I’m still pretty light. Slowly starting to get back to spotting, should hopefully be over by tomorrow evening if I’m lucky. Will put my Splendid Story pad on overnight and see how I am in the morning.img_1784

I had very slight spotting overnight but it’s wasn’t significant. I changed over to one of my Moongazy cloth pads that I received to try the new design. I’ve had no cramping at all today and no further spotting so I think this cycle is over. Yay!img_1771

I did my first university wash which was a bit awkward as it’s communal laundry facilities, I might do a separate blog at a later date saying how I go about doing this discretely. Everything’s washed for now though and a ready for next month. I used 16 pads over this cycle. I have only received these four pads this month as my new pads. I have got two on the way but I’ll try and include those next month. The large pad is from Lazy Creek Boutique and the other three are from Lily and Leo the same as my Avengers pad.img_1783
