Treat Trove Winter box 2017 review

The ladies of The Treat Trove have really outdone themselves this year. I can no longer afford a monthly box and so I treat myself at Christmas and this box definitely doesn’t disappoint. For those of you that have never heard of The Treat Trove, they are a small business that sells lots of handmade goodies, mainly pertaining to reusable menstrual products such as cloth pads or menstrual cups. However, they also have monthly boxes or comfort boxes. Ones that include these reusables or if you just want to treat yourself to something special. The monthly boxes are £19.95 and are full of products from small businesses that are handmade and unique. I recommend taking a proper look at their stuff and make sure to check often as they update their stock. The website is: http://thetreattrove.co.uk/

This box that I am reviewing cost me around £30. I can’t remember exact pricing as I ordered back in September. The first thing that jumped out at me was the reusable heat/cooling bag. I’ve been meaning to get a few of these so this was perfect timing. It doesn’t smell which is a big bonus for me as strong scents set off my migraines. I’m also pretty certain that this was a substitute item, as I specified in my order that I had certain allergies and mentioned the scents. Thank you, ladies of Treat Trove, for the effort! The wheat bag appears to come from a company called ‘Heads Up’ but it doesn’t have any links on the label. If I find out where you can get there I will add it here.

img_20171215_213931544.jpg

The next thing I picked out was an adorable either crocheted or knitted basket. At first, I thought it was a very small and stiff hat and was a bit lost but once I read the label I was very happy. I’m wanting to start up a bit of a hobby area and this will be perfect to hold all the random little bits and pieces that always go missing. Its small and malleable, love it! If you’re interested in one for yourself then go to: www.facebook.com/ditsypips. I remember this company from a previous box, so I had a nosy at the page myself and it looks as though she offers crochet lessons! I wish I lived nearby to take advantage of those as I am in dire need of an advisor, as my readers will know as I shared my progress a while ago. I haven’t improved. Anyways, give her a look!

The next item is from a supplier I have heard of before JJ Jiraffe. A set of super soft face wipes that are great for taking off make up. I have a set of these already, in a different fabric. I don’t wear makeup so at first, I wasn’t sure what I would use them for, but they have completely replaced cotton balls. I use a facial cleanser, and these are perfect for that. I will save one as a nail varnish remover as I don’t wear the stuff often, but it would be handy for that. Honestly, a great purchase for anyone wanting to reduce their waste. The wipes are exclusive to The Treat Trove so keep an eye on their website (listed at start of this post) but, she also offers other products so go check out her group at: https://www.facebook.com/JJ.Jiraffe/

A glint of yellow caught my eye and I found a lovely citrine bracelet in a bag. I’m trying to get back into accessorising, so this is a great Christmas treat. I’m not a big believer in the healing properties of stones but with my health being so up and down, I’m happy to have all the help I can get. Even though it wasn’t intentional, the properties of this stone are said to help with digestive issues and an unsettled mind. You ladies are perfect! With the number of deadlines, I have at the minute, this thing is not going to leave my wrist. The maker is Wild Feather and she has an etsy store here: https://www.etsystudio.com/shop/WildFeatherCreations/ and it looks as though she sells other items such as embroidered products so go and take a look. I can’t see a Facebook group, so I assume she works solely through this store.

There is also a small glass magnet that admittedly, I won’t have much use for. It is beautifully made and a great quality but it’s a bit small for my house. The place I put magnets is my radiator and if my dogs can easier swallow the magnet, it goes in a draw, so they don’t choke. Just because I won’t be able to display this as it should be doesn’t mean it’s not a lovely addition to the box and I definitely recommend looking at the wares of Rainbow Lux Glass at https://rainbowluxglass.co.uk/ I’ve had a glance over what else is available and the items are stunning. However, the owner is on maternity leave until 2018 so no orders until then. Congratulations to her and good luck!

The final little extra is from one of my favourite small businesses. I have received a few items through the treat trove boxes and have loved them all. Cinnamon Designs have included a little hanging ornament. Mine is shaped like a Christmas pudding and will soon be on my Christmas tree. Always happy to see items from Cinnamon Designs, very well made and always something different. Check her out on etsy at: https://www.etsy.com/uk/people/cinnamondesigns2 and on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/cinnamondesigns2/

img_20171215_2140341391.jpg

That’s everything non-cloth pad related, other than a bar of chocolate. The only edible item in the box which I am very happy about. Last year there were more edibles, but I prefer getting the other items to food products just because I’m so picky. This chocolate bar is by Cocoa Tabby, and is made in Derbyshire. I love a good fruit and nut bar so I can’t wait to break this open, likely when I’m on my own, so nobody can steal it from me. It has a full list of ingredients on the back so very helpful for allergy sufferers. Check them out at https://www.cocoatabby.co.uk/ and it looks like they take part in fairs and markets so keep your eyes peeled for those.

Finally, onto the cloth pads! I hesitated on adding these as I no longer have periods whilst I’m on this pill, but when I come off it I’ll have these to look forward to (and agonizing cramps). The first pad is by Muff Fluff who I have a couple of liners from and really like the quality of them. They are great quality pads and the topper is stunning. The back is a thicker fleece then I would normally wear but will work perfectly fine for the days I want to feel more secure. Sometimes I doubt my thinner pads can hold up to the challenge, they manage but the doubt does win out occasionally. Her Facebook group is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1141753795848931/ and she has a great selection of pads. I love the straight corners, I don’t always like the full curve and want something a bit different.

IMG_20171215_214240332

The second pad is by one of the loveliest people ever. Moongazy Cloth is run by Karen who was one of the people that helped me when I first began my journey into the cloth world. She has a fantastic range of toppers and her pads are stunning. I really wish I could go crazy and buy a full stock of her pads but with no periods, I can’t justify it at the minute. One day! As I said her toppers are stunning and this one is no exception, the quality is perfect, and the shape is not fully curved, so again I love it. Very thin pads so I would be happy to wear it when I’m out and about, but not on my heaviest of days, the fluffier the better on those days for me. Please check her out at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/moongazycloth/ there is a waiting list here for custom made pads so you can choose your own length, topper, and absorbency.

This is by far the best box I’ve had from The Treat Trove. I know my review sounds like I’m easy to please but I’ve always been honest with what I’ve said, and this box really has just made me happy. The items were all sweet, practical, and considerate. The pads are from two amazing makers. What’s not to love about this box?! Honestly a great treat that I needed after the past term of University, if only they had a second box that I could order for after exams. Might just go ahead and do that after Christmas.

I hope everyone has a fantastic and safe Christmas and New Year. Even if you don’t celebrate these holidays, I hope you relax and treat yourselves to some lovely goodies. There are some great ones in this review.

Merry Christmas!

PS. Once again, sorry for the terrible photos!

The Treat Trove, winter 2016 review

The Treat Trove Winter box review

Its been a while since I last had a Treat Trove box but I couldn’t resist treating myself to the Winter special. It’s a decision I don’t regret in the slightest. I received it when I came home this weekend from University so it was nice to have a treat waiting for me. The box costs £24.95 and they have a variety of items and boxes available on their website: http://thetreattrove.co.uk/ There are treat boxes available that don’t include reusable menstrual pads for those of you that just want a pamper. They also have menstrual cups available if your interested in trying them out. Everything in the box is from the UK and the company help support small local businesses. I believe they deliver worldwide, but if you have any questions then you can ask them in their Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thetreattrove/

img_1875

As for this box, I’ll start with the pads. One was from Red Queen Cloth, I have one of her pads already and its really comfy. This is my first Sherpa pad which is exciting, its not as fluffy as I imagined it to be. I expected it to feel a bit more like a minky pad but its closer to a soft towel, very excited to try it out. If you’re interested in Red Queen Cloth pads then here is the link to her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/RedQueenCloth/?fref=ts I really recommend these pads, very good quality.img_1907

The second pad is from Cheecolicious Eco Wear. I haven’t tried any of her pads before but I love the shape and the material is perfect! I was told it was Jersey, I assume it’s a wicking jersey because it feels great, can’t wait to use it. The pad is made to a high standard and is really pretty. Please check out this maker at her website here: https://cheecolicious.com/ or her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/cheecolicious/?fref=ts she’s a new maker to me but she has a great range of products that I’m sure you’ll love, including cloth nappies (diapers) and clothing.img_1906

Moving on to the goodies included, I was really happy to see a soap from the amazing Yorkshire Bath Boutique. I first discovered this company through Treat Trove and have since purchased a box of her products, there is a review on my blog here: https://charlieblogweb.wordpress.com/2016/07/16/yorkshire-bath-boutique-review/ I apologise about the lack of images, they were unfortunately deleted. The soap included in this box was a Gingerbread scent, which admittedly is not my favourite, I love gingerbread but the smell is a little sickly for me so this soap will be gifted to a friend. I love her products, she has a massive range of scents available as well as a large range of products. I ordered months ago, and I’m still using the things I purchased over the summer. They last forever! Really good value and great customer service. The link for her Facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/yorkshirebathboutique/?fref=ts and her website is: http://www.yorkshirebathboutique.co.uk/store/

img_1898

There was a really pretty headband included which is in a gorgeous red. It is made by Ditsy Pips, who I haven’t head of before but from what I can tell she makes some great quality products. The headband is really comfortable and will be perfect for when I’m trying to keep my hair out of my face when its been straightened. Her Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/ditsypips/?fref=ts and she has her own etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/DitsyPips These products would make some great stocking fillers or even early birthday ideas.img_1896

There were two different chocolate treats, both with their own Christmas themed decoration on top. One a snowman, the other a reindeer. Unfortunately, neither of these have labels to show where they have come from. The reindeer is packaged really neatly with a pretty ribbon and a Merry Christmas tag. If I find where they came from I will add the link here:img_1900

Also a really nice nail polish. I believe they are from a company called, Freckles Polish, all of the shades oare handmade and I’m really impressed with it. The link for the Facebook group is: https://www.facebook.com/frecklespolish/. The boxes all had different shades, mine was a sparkly pink which isn’t my colour usually but its really pretty. I can’t paint my nails as I work in a hospital and its against policy but I used it on my toenails and really like it. Its smooth and easy to use and hasn’t cracked.img_1902

There was a really cute Christmas tree ornament that is shaped like a Christmas pudding. Again, the boxes all had a different shape but all Christmas themed. Its really good quality and will look perfect on the tree when we finally put it up. Again, nothing to show who the supplier is, but they’re really nice so again I’ll try and add the store here:img_1897

The second I opened this box I could smell peppermint and I traced it back to the Butterfly scents wax melt. I have seen a lot of people talking about this brand before and I have had one in the past that I used straight away, I can’t remember which scent I had but it lasted awhile. Its quite a strong scent and I might just use it as a room freshener rather than a wax melt. Please check out the Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/butterflyscentswaxmelts/?fref=ts she makes a massive range of scents and I believe she makes candles as well as the melts. I’ve heard a lot of good reviews and it’s packaged nicely with a little glitter in the melt as well, so again, a good stocking filler or gift idea.img_1899

The final product is another of the Alfie Isaac wish bracelets that I have received in a previous box. I love the idea and the charms are cute but I still say that the string used to tie them is far too stiff and doesn’t feel comfortable. The idea is that you tie it on and make a wish and when the string wears through your wish comes true, unfortunately I find the string too slippery and it comes loose, or too stiff and its uncomfortable. Would prefer just a normal thread. The packaging is gorgeous though and they are really cute ideas so if its something that appeals to you then the link is: www.etsy.com/shop/alfieisaacimg_1905

Thank you for reading! Still more reviews to come before Christmas so keep a look out!

The Treat Trove August 2016 review

Another fantastic box this month from the Treat Trove! Was really excited when I arrived home from work today and saw the tell-tale white of my monthly Treat Trove box. I opened it up to see that they have a really cute new introduction/thank you card which looks almost like a watercolour and is a really nice touch to the box. It also makes finding their details a lot easier.IMG_1646

On to the contents of this box, the first treasures are the lovely pads that were included. A really nicely sized TCS Eco pad that as I’m sure you’ve all realized from my review of their products; I absolutely love. I’ve been searching for some longer pads as I’m a bit short of pads that I can wear overnight and this one is around 10” so it’s perfect for either an overnight or daytime pad. I just need more heavy pads now. There are a few places you can purchase these pads so here are the links: https://www.facebook.com/ecotcs/?fref=ts

https://www.facebook.com/groups/tcseco/

https://www.facebook.com/groups/crimsonmoonpads/

IMG_1647

The second pad was from a maker I had never heard of before, Fluffy Elf. I am in love with the print (which is saying something because I normally dislike yellow) the placement and the butterflies are so pretty I almost don’t want to use it. It’s a bit longer then my usual lights/liners are and I’m not sure how it will work for me but I can’t wait to try it out on my next cycle. Please go and check Fluffy Elf out on Facebook, she has some great fabrics and a really good range of sizes: https://www.facebook.com/Thefluffyelf/?fref=ts

Two very good quality pads this month that I love and can’t wait to use. I know they also have Huggally Wuggally pads on their website at the moment as well so I highly recommend those a well!

Now on to the extra goodies, the first of which is by the awesome Cinnamon Designs that also made the little phone/purse charm that I loved in the previous box. This time it’s a little handmade love heart ornament that I’m going to take to Uni with me to hang on my overly boring noticeboard. It’s very delicate but well-made and very pretty. Doesn’t quite beat the charm, but that’s only because I really like the charm, it’s on my Harry Potter purse that I bought from Phoenix Rising Reusables. Please check out her Facebook group as she makes some amazing things: https://www.facebook.com/cinnamondesigns2/?fref=ts

There is a cute little inspirational magnet/frame that was a nice thought, it says ‘Never let go of your dreams’ which is perfect for a student. I’m not sure where this is from so if I find out I’ll make sure to add it in to the review.

There was a lovely little bath bomb in the box as well, unfortunately I don’t have a bath and so I’m going to use it as a foot soak because it smells really good. Was thinking of giving it to someone as a gift but then I decided to be selfish and keep it all for myself. Its Lavender scented which is one of my favourite scents, but it’s not really strong, just faintly scented so it won’t give me a headache which is brilliant. Also I love the name of the maker, ‘Ugly Apples’ what a brilliant name! I found their Facebook page and they do a great range of products so please take a look and see what you think: https://www.facebook.com/Uglyapples/IMG_1651

The final item was the much anticipated snack item. Love getting snacks in these boxes, I also love the fact that this box supports local businesses even with the snacks they include. This time it was a chocolate covered Oreo biscuit. It looks really nice with the striped pattern on the front. I’m not really a fan of Oreo’s or dark chocolate in general but I happily tried this one out and…yeah still not an Oreo fan. I think they taste like burnt biscuit. Great idea though and I would have loved it even more if it wasn’t Oreo based. I’ve had a chocolate lollie from the ‘Just Choc’ store before and they do some really tasty and creamy chocolate so for all the chocoholics that are reading, the link is: https://www.facebook.com/justchocshop/

I really enjoyed this box as I hope this review shows. The quality of the boxes seems to get better every month. This is unfortunately my last box now until Christmas as my funds are a bit short now that I’m heading back to University and so I ask you all to share pictures of your boxes with me. Also please go and buy the boxes so I can live vicariously through you all! I’ll miss doing these monthly reviews but I’m hoping to pick back up as soon as I can.

Thank you all for reading! Please let me know how you liked your own boxes!

The Treat Trove July 2016 box review

This month’s treat trove box has arrived! I received it Saturday and I think this is one of my favourite boxes so far. It is a little later than usual box we were notified on the Facebook page about the delay as there was chocolate in the box and we actually had a few days of hot weather, hence the later delivery. IMG_1418 (1)

The chocolate lolly thankfully arrived completely intact although the little squirrel had come a bit loose from the lolly and so I had two separate chocolate treats instead of one. I of course was devastated over this, or not. The chocolate was lovely really milky, maybe a little too sweet for me but I’m odd and don’t even like Cadbury’s chocolate because I find it too sweet. Prefer Swiss chocolate from M&S. I did really enjoy it though, was just what I needed after my shift today and there was just enough that I didn’t feel like I’d had too much sugar, but enough sugar to calm the sugar cravings. These are made by The Lollipop Stop but I can’t find the link to their store, if I do I’ll add it in.

There is something a little different in this box which I have fallen in love with! It’s a Cinnamon Designs phone charm. It’s so pretty and the perfect size and colour and shape and….yeah I really like it. It’s a bit unique and I’ve just ordered a custom made purse from Phoenix Rising Reusables (https://www.facebook.com/groups/PhoenixRisingReusables/) and I think I’m going to save it so I can attach it to the purse when it arrives. I’ll look after the purse more than my phone which gets a bit battered The colours, I’m in love with the colours, make me all calm just by looking at them, okay, sorry I’m done. I’d never heard of the store but I’ve done a bit of research since this box came and here is the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/cinnamondesigns2/?fref=ts. They’re also local to me when I’m back at University as they’re based in Cardiff so I feel like I’m supporting the locals. They have a massive range of products so please check them out even if it’s just on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/CinnamonDesigns2 they do engraved plaques, notebooks, charms, ornaments, all sorts. I actually wish they had a little store that I could take a walk around as this is the kind of thing I love!

As usually we also got a few smellies this month, I mean the melts and pamper products, not me! The first product is a little wax melt tart by Lola Rose. It’s a Lovely Dove scent that smells like the Dove soup you can get, all clean and fresh. I know I usually am not much of a fan of wax melts and candles but its scents like this that I love. I would buy this to put one in every sock and pant draw that I could as well as for every room. Honestly can’t wait to use it. Might even save it for the colder months where you can’t have the garden door open as often, that way the room will smell fresh again.  I struggled a little to find the store for this one but in the end google came through. Would definitely recommend to the supplier that they include those details on the little label. The Facebook group is: https://www.facebook.com/scentsbylolarose and there are loads of different things to try and they’re pretty cheap as well so go check her out…now!

The second smelly is actually a little unique as it’s a Lemon Sherbet Mini Bubble crumble slice. Again, a scent I love! It’s by Marshmallow Blends: http://www.marshmallowblends.co.uk/ who also have a Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/Marshmallowblends/ all handmade by the looks of things and if the rest of the things smell half as amazing as this slice does then I really wish they had a store to shop in as it would be worth the almost instant headache I would get. I haven’t tried it out yet and don’t have a bath so will be using it as a foot soak or a hand soak as the lovely Suzanne Barbato (one of the lovely ladies of Treat Trove) recommended. A good pamper day tomorrow I think.

Another nice little touch in this box was a make a wish bracelet. I again love the colours and the thought that goes behind it, so pretty. It’s a bracelet by Alfie Isaac who has an Etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/AlfieIsaac?ref=search_shop_redirect. They’re currently closed until the 6th when apparently they’re releasing some new designs so I’ll be taking a look later this week. From what I can see they do a variety of bracelets with different charms and inspirational quotes for different occasions. They come with an envelope so you could post it to someone instead of the boring birthday or celebration cards that you usually get. I’m not wearing mine at the minute as I can’t wear things on my wrist at work (Health care Assistant) so I’m saving it for when I’m back to University. My only negative is the string used is a little stiff and not the most comfortable, I understand that it’s supposed to wear through so that ‘your wish comes true’ but maybe a thin cotton thread would be a little better? Still a lovely addition to this box and I’ll be keeping the card in my work diary.

The pads in this box are really pretty and I’m really happy with the quality of them all. The first one is a Ngozi Sews pad which is a supplier I’ve been wanting to try out but keep missing out on when they have a stocking. The lady that makes these pads is called Nina Goodall and she’s super lovely. The pad is a 9” Regular pad and its padded enough that you can tell it’s there but not so much that you’re conscious that others know it’s there. I like to be able to feel my pads otherwise I feel like I’m going to soak through them so I’m looking forward to testing this one out. I’d recommend checking out the Facebook group as they have a waiting list for custom orders and often do Market nights along with Red Queen Cloth (who made the pad I received in my first box and love it!) the page is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/clothpadmad/IMG_1421

I’d join the group as soon as you can because the next Market night is 5th August at 8pm (BST) and my lovely friend Karen Lucas is a guest seller. She makes the Moongazy Cloth pads (https://www.facebook.com/groups/moongazycloth/) and I have two pads so far that are fantastic quality so definitely check her out and be there for the Market! Can’t wait! She isn’t selling pads on this occasion, just the pad pods, but still great quality and if you want to purchase i’d recommend messaging her page as she has a great range of prints.

The next two pads are both from Muff Fluff which is a brilliant name! I have heard of this maker before but hadn’t had the chance to try out these pads before so it’s a great edition and should be just in time for this cycle. They’re both a unique diamond sort of shape and are actually the perfect size for liners/light pads. I think they’re 7 and 8” respectively but I’m not 100%, they’re lovely and thing though, which I do like in liners as I don’t have to feel secure, just need to know that if I get a surprise Aunty Flo visit then my trousers won’t be ruined. These should do the job perfectly. I’m in love with the little turtle print, might go to the top of my liner pile! There Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/Muff-Fluff-CSP-741416342625723/ and the prices look pretty good to me! I would recommend they put the Facebook page on the label though as it would make it easier to find them, but I’m happy to have the pads to myself for now!

My only downside to this box is the fact that for the second box in a row we’ve had a cloth pad design that is also available on the Treat Trove website. Whilst I am very happy with the pad, I wish I could have tried a different maker rather than something in stock. I buy the pads from this site when I can and I very nearly had double the pads, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing especially when the pads are great. It’s just a niggle and the hope of trying a wider range of suppliers. Not a disappointment at all! The only reason I point it out is that in my previous box I’d ordered a Chubby Joe pad and also received one in the box that month so it took away some of the excitement as I was already trying that supplier out though the same place. This entire little paragraph doesn’t make much sense but I know what I mean! That and I like to add an improvement tip to a review and this was the only thing I could think of for this box!

So, a brilliant box with loads of new stores for you lot to check out, I think this box is my favourite so far and I’m really wishing I could buy the August box but I’m afraid the limited funding at the minute means that for August’s box you’ll all just have to order your own to try them for yourselves! The site is: http://thetreattrove.co.uk/ and you could even order your September boxes whilst you’re at it! Any questions then come join us over on the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thetreattrove/ they’re all super lovely people and always happy to help.

Thanks for reading! Now go spend your money and treat yourselves!

June Treat Trove Period box

13567180_10209734241896823_5161473317122950622_n

Sorry for the late review, I actually received this box early last week and just haven’t had a chance to sit down and type this up. This is a review of the monthly subscription box that I have been getting since April. The Treat Trove is a UK based company and do a range of boxes and products on their website: http://thetreattrove.co.uk/

They have a selection of different boxes the majority of which include reusable cloth menstrual pads. It’s perfect for someone who is interested in trying them out but doesn’t know which brand or style they would prefer as it will provide a range of styles over time. They vary in prices usually around £18-30 depending on the box. I buy the Period box which is £24.95.

In this box I received two different cloth pads from two new makers. One was a Craft Mummy Makes pad which is I believe an bamboo velour pad so it’s extremely soft and was a gorgeous colour. Unfortunately its shape really doesn’t suit me, it’s far too wide at around 4” when closed and doesn’t fit in my undies at all. It’s very floppy and soft and I do love the material it’s just not for me.

The second pad is a Chubby Joes pad and is in a really nice Peace print. The size of it was a bit of a worry at first as it looks like it fastens quite wide, but because it’s not as floppy as the other pad it actually sits really nicely. It doesn’t move once it’s fastened and it[s a decent size so I really like it. https://www.facebook.com/chubbyjoescloth/

You also get a little interlabial pad which I haven’t actually tried yet. They’re supposed to be really good for people with heavy periods to stop the (sorry if this grosses you out) gushing. It’s a very soft material and I’ll use it on my heavier days to try out in the future, but it’s not been much of an issue for me so far.

On to the extra little goodies, you get a nice little mirror which easily fits into your handbag or purse. Mine has a nice anchor print on it which I like. I was actually looking to get myself one of these just before the box came so I’m happy I didn’t buy the one I saw in the shop. It’s cute and a nice touch.

This box didn’t come with many sweet items which I was quite sad about, you do get a nice chocolate lolly stick. It’s quite small and while very tasty, it didn’t really satisfy my monthly chocolate cravings. It was provided by Choco Loco and I do recommend you check them out because the chocolate was milky and lovely. These lollies would make a great little party bag addition.

Next in the box was a little wet bag, pouch, thing. It’s fairly small and would fit nicely into your handbag. It’s made of a wet bag, waterproof material so it would be great for people that go swimming and want to take some pads or make up but don’t want to risk them getting wet. It’s made by Holly Willow and it’s nicely made, neat stitching. My only down side to it is that I received a floral print, I really am not a floral girl so I will probably pass this on to a friend.

You get another wax melt which is different to the ones received in the previous boxes as it’s a bit larger and has a fun design. Mine is a Hot Pink Lime scent which does smell great. It’s a bit big for my melt holder so I’m going to have to break it down to use it. It’s made by Butterfly Scents who’s website is: http://butterflyscents.co.uk/

The final item is a Swirl soap from Knick Knacks Attic. Mine is a Passion Fruit swirl which does smell amazing. I’m not going to open this just yet though so I can’t comment on how it feels, I’m planning on taking it to university with me when I start back up in September. It’s my little treat for when I’m back to no cash. Their website is: http://www.knickknacksattic.co.uk/

So all in all it’s not been a bad box. I have to admit it isn’t my favourite box so far just because the pad doesn’t work for me and if I’m honest, the little extras just didn’t seem enough. I still recommend this box fully, especially to those just starting out with cloth or who want a treat. The items in this box are lovely and well made it just didn’t suit me personally. More chocolate or sweets or snack bars! The customer service for this company is amazing so if you have any questions then feel free to ask the ladies over on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thetreattrove/?fref=ts

The Treat Trove May 2016 box

I received my second treat box! I love these boxes and can’t wait for them to arrive at the end of the month, already put in an order for my next one, so exciting. So this is a review of my May Period box by The Treat Trove whose website is: http://thetreattrove.co.uk/ they have a variety of different boxes and don’t have to contain reusable menstrual products! They now stock individual items so you don’t have to purchase a box you can try different brands through their site. All of these products vary in price but the box I get is £24.95 which is really good for the amount of things you get. They change the products and suppliers every month and keep everything completely hush hush so it’s a surprise when you open your box. For this box I’d requested not to receive and bath products or candles as I can’t use them so they get wasted. They were happy to adjust things as needed and I received a fantastic range of products.

This box included three different cloth pads, two of them are from the same supplier and are part of a set. They unfortunately didn’t have a label to identify which supplier it was but I asked on the Treat Trove chat Facebook group and found out they were Tender Loving Cloth with I’m ecstatic about because I really wanted to try cloths from this maker! I’m not a fan of them having spots but I love the bright colours that they came in and they feel very soft and thin. I will review them properly in a separate blog once I’ve had the chance to try them out. https://www.facebook.com/Tender-Loving-Cloth-Creations-460899627345718/?fref=ts

The third cloth is gorgeous! The print is so colourful and I fell in love with it as soon as it arrived. I’d never heard of Red Queen Cloth pads and now I’m going to have to try more from them. This is a 10” heavy pad and it says so on it tag, it came with a very well designed label so I knew exactly what I was getting. Very impressed and the link for their Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/RedQueenCloth/?fref=ts so check them out if you also love the design! Again I’ll post a review of it once I’ve tried it out to let you know how it is.

On to the other items I received. The first thing is a small photo booklet. At first I wasn’t too sure what it was, just thought it was a strange notebook, but then I was told it’s to put photos in. It’s a lovely pattern and adorable but I have to be honest and say I probably won’t use it, in fact I’ll be giving it to my friend who’ll probably use it for cat photos so at least it’s being used. I can’t tell you anything about the makers or where to find it as there is no label! If you’re interested then it’s probably best to contact the people over at Treat Trove to find out more. Again it’s a nice idea but not for me.

The next little gift is a fantastic lip balm. It’s Berry Sorbet and smells delicious. I’ve used it a few times now and it’s great for when your lips are getting dry and it goes on really easily. They use all natural ingredients and are against animal testing, they just use organic ingredients. Really recommend this and when I’ve finished it I will definitely be looking at buying some more and will be trying some of their other products as they have a huge range of things. Can’t wait to do an order once I get paid next month! Their website is: http://www.handmadesoap.co.uk/ourshop/ so check them out and stock up on chemical free products. Really great little handmade goodies.

While on the topic of things that smell great the foot soak that came in this box is brilliant! Wish I could let you all smell how amazing it is, it’s lemon and lime and smells really fresh and is perfect for the summer. It’s made by Yorkshire Bath Boutique and is completely handmade which is something I now look for when I buy pamper products. I like to know what I’m using on my skin and this lists them on the package. My only real negative about this is that the label is very hard to read, it’s quite fuzzy and makes you go a bit cross eyed, the bag also doesn’t have a proper seal so it did leak into the box and coated everything else. At least everything smelt great. I haven’t used it yet as I’m waiting on having a really girly pamper evening before I do but I recommend checking out their website: http://www.yorkshirebathboutique.co.uk/store/ they have a lot of different products that would be great for a girly night in or just for you to treat yourself like I have over the last month. Bye-bye money!

There was a sample of tea which is called Cupcake Tea, I’m not really a flavoured tea drinker, I tend to stick to good ol’ PG Tips, but this is a Sweet Honey flavour which wasn’t awful. I know that sounds like it’s bad but for someone who doesn’t like herbal teas it’s a massive compliment! It’s a mixture of Banana and Honey and I didn’t hate drinking it, in fact I finished the entire cup. So if you like these teas you’ll probably love this one. Admittedly I wouldn’t buy a box for myself but I am would love to order some for my friend who loves this kind of thing. Unfortunately there is no website on the package so I have no idea where I can get some, I’ll just keep my eyes peeled when I do my next food shop.

We have now reached the final product, Eton Mess Chocolate! Absolutely delicious! It’s handmade by Sweet Love Chocolate whose Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/alrewassweetlove/ and it was perfect. The size of the bar was just the right size for me as I can’t eat a lot of chocolate in one go without feeling sick. It had what I think was meringue and freeze dried strawberries on top which literally melted in your mouth. The balance of the topping and the chocolate was perfect and they’re perfect if you have an event coming up and need small gift bags making up. They do a range of different products so please go and have a look at the link, I wish I had the money to order a batch of their fudge because my mouth waters just looking at the pictures.

There we have it folks, my review of the Treat Trove Period box. I really hope you enjoyed reading and please subscribe for more or leave me some feedback! I’m so new to blogging that I appreciate any help or recommendations that you guys might have for me! Thanks for reading!

The Treat Trove April 2016 Box

I’ve never ordered a subscription box before so this was a completely new experience. I ordered the wonderful Period Box from The Treat Trove website which is: http://thetreattrove.co.uk/

At first I was a little dubious as they cost £24.95 each and I thought that was a bit steep as I was treating myself. You do receive a lot in these boxes! If you think that each pad that you would purchase is around £7-9 on average and you tend to receive 3 different pads in this box. It’s great for people that are just starting out on cloth pads because it takes the choosing a supplier problem off your hands. The pads that you get are different every month so you get to try out suppliers that you haven’t been able to. Along with the pads you receive little treats which again differ every month. These treats are hand crafted and locally sourced, so with every box you’re helping out small businesses. Doesn’t that make you feel pretty good about yourself?

If you’re not interested in receiving yet more pads to an already excessive collection (although is there such a thing as too many?) then you can just order a treat box. These boxes have similar items just without the pads and cost £14.95 it’s called the Sweet box. There are so many to choose from that I recommend checking out the site! They even have specific boxes for teenagers or new mothers (post-partum) which have items suited to these groups. Or an amazing relaxation box that sounds incredible, I image it smells just as amazing as well. I will be trying other boxes in future.

My first box arrived at the end of April 2016 and you can open it straight away or save it for when your cycle starts. I’m far too impatient to wait so I opened it immediately.  It contained three different pads, one Kittens & Mittens pad which is the one with the little hearts the etsy store for these is kittensandmittensuk if you want to try her pads. It feels amazingly soft on the back and is the perfect size, I can’t wait to try it out.

The second one is a Dimplemuff pad which feels a little thicker then I would like put it’s a gorgeous print and a nice fabric although it didn’t come with any length or thickness guide so I’ll have to look them up.

The final pad is a Jolly Penguin (Joli Pingouin) pad which again is gorgeous! It’s my first bamboo valour pad that feels a little rough so I’m hoping it softens after I prewash it (Which it did but is still a little big for me).

I will review each of these pads individually in a separate entry. I don’t want to mix and match pads but I will likely compare them to other brands so that if people like certain types they’ll know where to find similar styles.

On to my other items in this box. I received some chocolate orange razzle type circles which were eaten straight away that’s why they’re not in the picture. I’m not a fan of orange flavoured chocolate so they weren’t something I’d want again but I loved the fact that they were coloured pink, orange and brown. A very cute touch and they were very well presented. A downside to this first box was that I received two separate candles. The small love heart stand with the orange candle smells great! I love it! Smells kind of fruity, and I wish there was a little label with it that told me what the scent was.DSCF2218

The second candle is in a very nice little jar with a screw on lid that’s wrapped with a ribbon. It’s called Dreamy #5 and is made of Eco Soy Wax, its clay sage and papaya scented and while it does have a stamp that says who makes them it’s so small that I can’t read it. It smells really fresh and I did light it when I had family round and it wasn’t too strong.DSCF2227

I don’t really use candles because they give me headaches, that and when I get back to university I can’t have them in my room. I couldn’t have lit either of them in my bedroom or a smaller space as it would have been too much for me. I do love the packaging though and for people that like candles these would have been great! I also had a small wax melt which, again, I don’t use. It’s in a nice little pouch which is adorable and it’s called Blue Hawaiian, made by soap candy whose website is: www.soapcandy.co.uk I may not use it for its intended purpose but it’s going in my sock draw as it’ll make my clothes smell great!

The final item in this first box is a bag of bath salts. I love to have a good pamper and can’t wait to use them! I unfortunately don’t have a bath, only a shower so I’m going to have to wait until I’m traveling back to university before I can use it as I stay in a hotel and that’s the only time I can have a bath. It’s a treat to look forward to and I will definitely use it, if it’s not stolen by a friend first that is. It’s by Dreamy HB&S and is a Vanilla & Sandalwood organic bath salt which sounds brilliant, the writing on the packet is again very small and hard to read so the only critique I have for them is to maybe revamp their labels.

Some people would probably say this box was a disappointment as I couldn’t use half the things that were in it but it really wasn’t! It was super exciting to receive and gave me something to look forward to at a really crappy time of the month. For my future boxes I know to request no candles or bath products and they really listen to these requests! You can tell them if you have certain dietary requirements or if there are certain products you can’t use and your box will be personalized for you! So don’t worry about any special requests you might have! The only thing I would really change about these boxes is to maybe have a leaflet inside that gives you information on exactly what it is your receiving and where to buy more. It can be a little difficult to identify where the products have come from. Maybe eventually there’ll even be the ability to request whether you want liners or moderates/heavy’s, etc. in the box to personalize it even further. I will definitely be ordering more boxes in future though and can’t wait to see what else is in store!

Sorry for some of the photos in this!
