Bomb Cosmetics, Sky High gift set

Sky High Bomb Cosmetics

Let me start off by saying thank you to my wonderful friend who purchased me this box as a Christmas/Birthday gift. She had seen my blog and thought it would be perfect for me to be able to review. She was right, as always. So as I’m sure you’ve guessed, I can’t comment on the purchasing side of this box. I had no dealings with the company directly but I will attach their website here: http://bombcosmetics.co.uk/ and for this particular box the link is: http://bombcosmetics.co.uk/skyhigh

It apparently cost £14.99, which I shouldn’t know and I hope my friend doesn’t kill me for looking this up! I did it for review purposes only so you can blame my readers, not me! The products are all handmade and use essential oils only. They also don’t test on animals which is great! Although, not all of the ingredients are natural, only where possible.

The packaging is stunning, its wrapped in a way that you feel like everything inside is a luxury item. I’m not a fan of the use of plastic to wrap them, but that might just be the Eco side of me talking. I did think it extracted from the overall look of the product, but that’s just my issue with plastic. The smell when you open the box (even before you open it) is amazing. I keep the box at the bottom of my wardrobe before I used them all and it made everything smell great.

As I’ve mentioned before though, I do not own a bath, only a shower. So these products are being used as bath soaks instead. Please bare that in mind when your reading as I can only comment on how they are as foot soaks. This means they will dilute a heck of a lot more in your bath then they do for me in my little dish tub that I use for my feet. Before I begin, here is what is to come. A list of the product details from the leaflet that comes with the box. This comes in different languages.

The Chai High Bath Mallow was my starting point. If I’m being honest I found the smell of this one a little overwhelming. My room stank for days and it just smelt like an overpowered cleaning product. It left my feet feeling oily and I didn’t get any of the ‘nourishment’ that was being promised in the booklet. The only good part was the little fake flower on top that I use to decorate my noticeboard. It’s cute! I loved the design of it but was disappointed with it overall.IMG_1950

My next foray into this box was with the Incense & Sensibility Bath Blaster. Which I Have to say, love the name. I’ve unfortunately been studying a bit of Jane Austen in my lectures this week along with other Victorian writings and so a product that plays on the title ‘Sense and Sensibility’ seemed appropriate. The smell of this one is a little more to my taste, not overpowering but subtly floral. I was a bit worried when I placed it in the water and it pretty much became a mass of foam but, it was very relaxing. It did still leave my feet very soapy though and I image this is going to be common with these products.

It’s been a long week of working and stress so I thought I’d treat myself to the Miss Tangleberry Bath Buttercup bomb. Its light scent was perfect to calm my stomach which has been rolling a bit today. Frankincense and Sandalwood apparently. It’s a nice size, and didn’t take as long as the others to dissolve. It’s a very pretty and vibrant blue, even in the water. Again, quite soapy but It left my feet feeling really soft.

For the finale, I went for the massive Pink Rhubarb Princess Whoopie Blaster. This is a beast. If you’ve ever had the rhubarb and custard boiled sweets, then you’ll know what this smells like. Honestly, the best smelling yet. My only negative is that it has glitter. I’m not a fan of glittery products because the stuff ends up going everywhere. I’m not too bothered though as I’ll be leaving University in two more weeks so it won’t be me hoovering it from the carpet for the next few months. This is my favourite so far and I wish I’d kept the top half so I could use it on two separate occasions. Still very soapy but I actually don’t think it’s as bad as the previous ones. I have uploaded a video of this onto YouTube to show how fizzy it goes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bnnNEDx9hk

IMG_2037

I didn’t have the time to use the soap as my previous Passion fruit soap from my treat trove box is never ending. So, the soap has been bestowed to a flatmate. It smelt amazing and judging by its size; it will last for months.IMG_1951

All in all, it was a lovely relaxing box. I don’t think I could use them as bath bombs without irritating my skin as they are very soapy and fragranced. If I had used them in the bath I can almost guarantee that I would get Thrush. So, if you have sensitive skin like myself, maybe just use them as foot soaks. I would like to try a few different scents in future and I especially would be interested in purchasing more soap so I can try it.

It’s a nice little gift box and if you’re looking for something to buy for Christmas, birthdays, or even as a small pick me up, this would be a nice little box for you. Please go and check out the website: https://bombcosmetics.co.uk/ or their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Bomb.Cosmetics/?fref=ts

Please excuse the poor photos as I have been using a dish washing bowl as my foot spa. Doesn’t make for the prettiest of pictures.

Thanks as always for reading! My updates should increase after the deadlines are over. The World of Wizardry box should arrive in the next few days so that will be up when it gets here.

My Days winter box 2016 review

Unfortunately, the lady who runs the My Days boxes has decided to stop selling them, if you head over to the Facebook page she has some great closing down sales that I believe will be happening through the next few months to use up the last of her stocks. The page is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MyDaysMonthly/

I had ordered myself the Christmas box back in September so I’m afraid I can’t remember exactly how much I paid for it but it was around £30 because I included a pad as an extra treat. I was very happy with this box and was very happy to see a personal note explaining that substitutions have been made for me as I can’t have bath products. Makes you feel like the organisers actually care about you, and it wasn’t only the bath products but my intolerance to onion and garlic that was taken into consideration, she checked all the products (as its often in crisps), which is great customer services!img_1876

On to the items in the box, I’ll start with the cloth pad as I haven’t had one from this box before. Tanzi (the owner) has a monthly order from Luna Chick and I must say, I’m impressed. The quality of the pad is amazing and it’s my first Christmas themed pad! Super excited over that, really wish I had ordered the scrundies to go with it as they look brilliant. This maker does a range of products, including clothing for women and children. If you interested, then take a look at hew Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/LunaChickUK/ or her etsy store here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LunaChickUK?ref=search_shop_redirect

Staying on the theme of reusable products, I also received a Toggle Wheat bag from Ancient Wisdom. I love the idea of this bag but I found the smell a little off. I love lavender as a scent but this doesn’t really appeal to me as it smells a bit stale, I think that’s the best way to describe it. The quality of the bag is fantastic and I am thinking that I may just repack it with some fresh wheat and lavender. I have had products from this company before and they haven’t really impressed me. It’s closed with Velcro so it won’t be a problem to undo and use fresh after a wash. A great idea but I wouldn’t buy from Ancient Wisdom. There site is www.Ancient-Wisdom.info but I don’t think you can purchase here, they may only do bulk orders.

Sticking with fabric based products, there is a really adorable crocheted star ornament for the Christmas tree. I think its brilliant and a nice addition to the box. I’m not sure who the supplier is as it doesn’t have a label but if I find out I will add it here: I admit, I’m jealous of their crochet skills, mine have not improved much, should really practice more.

Ok, pamper goodies are next. The first of which is a Juicy Burst facemask It’s a paraben free mask from ooh-arr that sounds fantastic, will definitely be using it on my next pamper day. I will be taking it back to University with me as sometimes I really need a pamper when I’m there. For more information as well as how to purchase, there website is: http://www.ooh-arr.com/

The second pamper item is a nail brush, I’ll be honest and say I have no idea how to use one of these. I have seen them before and it looks like it’s a good quality, but I may need to google how to use it. Both of these pamper items were my replacement items, the initial pamper goody was a bath bomb, but I only have a shower.

There were a few scented items in the box like I handmade soap which was really nice, just a bit too strong for me and so it has been given to a friend, along with the Ancient Wisdom scented granules. They were pine scented and a little too sweet for my delicate nose. Great additions but better in the hands of my friend, sorted my stocking filler gifts out though!

Next we have the drinks. There is the usual Lichfields hot chocolate which I love. Honestly can’t recommend this brand of hot chocolate enough, the box is worth it just for this. I don’t have a link but I know it can be found on amazon. Also two different teas, we have our Pukka which is wild apple and cinnamon which I am saving to have on Christmas morning as I actually like apple tea so it’ll be a treat. The other tea is a Hampstead Organic Peppermint tea. Now with all my nausea and stomach problems recently, I am super happy to have this as I’ve been wanting to see if it helps settle my stomach but I didn’t want to buy a box in case it was wasted. I know I’m not a big fan of the taste but it’s worth it if it settles my tummy so thank you Tanzi! There is also a Peppermint Chai Latte, I’m a bit weary of it as it sounds good but I don’t particularly enjoy Chai, I’m actually saving this for Christmas as well as we have my brother and sister-in-law coming round so we can all try it together.img_1879

Next is the all important treats. We have two different bars of chocolate, the first being by AngeliQ which I haven’t seen before. It’s a 70% dark chocolate made of Peruvian cocoa which sounds fancy, it is an Orange and Cranberry flavour and is really nicely packaged. I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a fan of orange chocolate and so this is likely to go in my dad’s belly but I have tried it and wow is it dark. You can really taste the orange coming through and its not bad for dark chocolate, I can’t taste any cranberry though. If you like dark or orange chocolate, then I really recommend as even I wasn’t put off by the flavour and I’m fussy. The website is: http://www.iqchoc.com/ I’m impressed with their options and they are gluten, dairy, nuts, and soya free, they are also vegan. Very impressive, the website tells you which stores stock their chocolate near you and allows you to buy online. I’m going to order a few flavours in future I think, once my current stash is reduced a bit. On to chocolate bar number two, it is a Divine bar which I have heard off, and its Dark Chocolate with Cranberries and Hazelnuts, very festive. Again, very dark but the bitterness of the chocolate is reduced with the cranberries. I’m trying to eat darker chocolate as its healthier but not doing very well so far. This is good though, I ate an entire piece without pulling a face. I was a little sad that the bottom corner of the bar was slightly damaged but it didn’t affect the bar itself and this box is so full that I’m shocked that more things weren’t damaged! That is a compliment, not a criticism! Can’t believe how much was in this box!

There was a third chocolate item but this was in coin form. That right, 70% Dark Chocolate coins that are also from Divine. My only downside to this brand is that they aren’t gluten free. I’m not coeliac or gluten intolerant but a lot of my friends are and It would have been nice to share it, guess that just means more for me. The website for these is: www.divinechocolate.com if I’m honest, if it wasn’t for the fact I like the cranberry taste, I would say go to the IQ chocolate website that’s above instead, better quality and allergy awareness from what I can tell.

The final food item is a Perk!er Quinoa bar, it is Goji and Cranberry flavour, which if you can’t tell, I love cranberries. I had it on my break at work today and it was nice. Not my favourite health snack bar but I would buy more of them if I saw them. I’m not a large quinoa fan so that might be why I wasn’t blown away but, it had great flavour and it is gluten, wheat and dairy free as well as being vegan. If your any of these things and struggle to find snacks, then I recommend trying this. The website is: www.perkier.co.uk I would be quite interested in trying their porridge range, might be a healthier alternative for breakfast.

The final two items were the usual tealight candle, in a lovely orange scent which I’m happy with and a reusable facecloth, not as soft as the first one I received but it has baubles on it! I love it!

Thank you for reading, and buy these boxes fast before they stop being available! I’m sorry to see My Days closing as it’s been a great way to try new things. Yes, some of the things have not suited me, but I have found a lot of snacks that I now actively look for when I’m shopping, all tanks to the wonderful Tanzi. Sorry to see you go!

(Sorry there aren’t as many individual pictures, a few problems with my camera uploading)

Yorkshire Bath Boutique review

I received a Yorkshire Bath Boutique foot soak in one of my earlier pamper boxes and absolutely loved it and so I contacted the lady who runs this business to order another batch. She has fantastic customer service and is very quick to respond so don’t hesitate to contact her. The link to her Facebook group is: https://www.facebook.com/yorkshirebathboutique/?fref=ts but there is also a store website which is: http://www.yorkshirebathboutique.co.uk/store/ I found it best to contact her through Facebook though.  I ordered a range of products to try out some of the other goodies she has available and so I’ll let you all know how I got on.

I’ll start out with my initial product search, my foot soak. This time instead of the Lemon and Lime soak, I ordered the Lavender one. It smells incredible! It’s so relaxing to use and even my mum has stolen some once or twice. Your feet feel lovely and soft afterwards and it relaxes you after a really crappy day at work. I really recommend you all give it a go, there is a massive range of different scents so you can try which ever one you want! It cost my £2.50 and I have used it around 4 times so far with loads still left in the bottle. Great value for money!

While I was browsing the products I noticed a Sea Salt Soap Scrub, which is a bit of a tongue twister. I received a coconut scented scrub (I asked to be surprised with all the scents as I couldn’t choose!) It’s very light and fresh so it’s not overpowering at all. My only downside to it is that it wasn’t very scrubby. I didn’t feel like I’d used an exfoliating scrub, more of a moisturiser. There are small particles that do scrub at your face and if you have delicate skin then it would be perfect for you. Whilst I have sensitive skin I do like a good scrub that leaves my face feeling a little tingly and all clean. This does leave your skin feeling soft though. For the price it’s fantastic, one tub costs £4 and will last for quite a while. I do use it as a body scrub as well as on my face and so it won’t last as long as the cleanser but a small amount does go a long way. It’s also great to use when you’re doing your legs, makes them feel nice and soft. I wonder how it would work as a shaving cream actually, hmmmm.

My next product was a face cleanser and like I said before I have sensitive skin on my face so I was a bit cautious with this one. I have the Mandarin scented cleanser which smells all citrusy and lovely. A very refreshing smell when you use it and not too overpowering. There is a lot in one tub so it lasts for a very long time (maybe add a made on date or expiry date to keep track of freshness?) I had to use a very small amount that covered my whole face. I rinsed my face with water before I used it and this seemed to make it spread very smoothly. My face feels soft after I have used it and so far it hasn’t caused any peeling or extra dryness. It hasn’t improved the dryness either so I still use a moisturiser after I have cleansed my face. Very good value for money though! The cleanser tub cost £5 and will last me months. I won’t use it every day, more of a once a week cleanser to give my face an extra clean.

My final product is a Slice of Soap. For a small slice between 75-95grams it costs £1.95 and I have the Milk and Honey bar. I wanted one that wasn’t too harsh as I used a lot of hand sanitizer at work and my hands get really dry from it so I wanted something that moisturised without making my hands worse and this little bar is perfect. It’s really gentle on my skin and my hands don’t feel so flaky anymore so I’ll definitely have to get more of this in the future, for now it’s going to last me for a while just like the other products.

So overall, a great box of goodies. They last forever and are great value for money. The only downside are ones caused by my skin personally not with the items themselves so please go and check her out! They are all handmade and she’s always improving them so let her know how you get on! My only tips for improvement is on the labelling. It would be quite handy to have a list of ingredients and a little instruction guide on how much to use, especially with the foot soak as I’m not sure if I’m pouring too much or too little into my bowl! The postage of a box depends on the weight of your order and mine was quite a large order and the postage was only £4.50 so go and stock up! I’ve also been told that’s she’s happy to ship Worldwide so this is open to all you lovelies! x

Thank you for reading and as always feel free to ask any questions!
