Doki Doki Crate November 2017 Review

Finally, a blog post. My November Doki Doki Crate arrived today so I thought I’d share it with everyone. I haven’t reviewed the October box as I honestly haven’t received it yet. It took 3 weeks to arrive and it went to my home address rather than my uni address, so I won’t be doing a review on that one. For anyone that doesn’t know, the Doki Doki Crate is a monthly subscription box that comes directly from Japan. They do a load of Kawaii items that I love, and I thought I’d buy it for a few months to see what I thought of it. The box costs around £25 a month and is available worldwide with free postage as far as I know. The price changes due to conversion rates, it’s listed in USD so you’ll be able to convert the cost depending on your own currency. The link for the box is: http://www.japancrate.com/dokidoki

I wasn’t disappointed with this box, I finally received a plushie! It’s adorable. It’s a Tempura cat, and apparently you can get a variety of different cats disguised as tempura. I wish they’d included a picture of the different cats that were available but I’m happy with the one I have.IMG_0232

There is also a face towel which is pretty cute, a very bright yellow, which isn’t my favourite colour, but it suits the design. I’d been debating buying a new face towel, so this is pretty handy and saved me the effort of finding one I like.IMG_0239

The Hello Kitty sandwich mould does seem a bit pointless to me. I’ve always been told not to play with my food so why would I want to mould my sarnies to look like a cat? Even if I did want to make odd shapes from them, this is a very small mould and would make a very small snack. Maybe a fun thing to do at kid’s parties, but would consist of too much food handling for me.IMG_0231

The divided plate is pretty sturdy. I don’t own any plates like this so I’m happy to give it a try. Not a fan of my food all mixing into one so maybe this is the way forward for me. Nice little addition, and even if it’s not used often it will be great for dividing snacks.IMG_0236

I don’t really understand the bread squishy. Apparently, people collect them? It’s okay for a stress ball but it smells gross and I’m not sure I’ll ever use it. Maybe after its aired out a bit it won’t be so bad but, for now its yucky.IMG_0237

The little canvas bag is useful though. Wales charges for every bag used so I’ve been looking at canvas bags to keep in my pockets or bag. I’m planning on making my own next summer, but this will keep me going until I get to my sewing machine. They could have added a bit more detail to it though, it feels a bit bland and cheap to me.IMG_0238

Last but not least is the Hoppe-Chan. You receive one of theses in every box and this one is adorable. It’s supposed to be a turkey, but I just see the little top hat and think of it as a turkey Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon. I love it.IMG_0235

A bit of a short review but all in all I enjoyed this box. A nice mix of useful and useless things. Either way the items will brighten up my room a bit. I definitely recommend looking into these boxes. They’re cute and a bit of fun, especially if you have younger members of the family.IMG_0234

I’m afraid my posts are going to be very infrequent as time goes on, I’m in my final year of an English degree and there is a lot of writing and reading to be done which will be my focus for the next 8 months.

Thanks for reading!

Doki Doki Crate September 2017 Review

IMG_0177After cancelling my Harry Potter subscription box, I have decided it is time to try something new. My first Doki Doki Japan Crate arrived yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. I received and email on the 24th August to say it would arrive in the next 2-4 weeks, but it arrived on the 1st September. Super fast delivery from Japan to the UK, very impressed so far. The box itself cost $30.00 which on the date of purchase equalled £24.36. This box has free delivery all around the world. I was a bit weary of the price at first but it is a box that I see reviews of fairly often and I have been tempted for a while now.

There are a number of different boxes available, I chose this particular box as I liked the theming of it. You can get snack or treat boxes which look great as well, might try one of those in the future. I was drawn to this one because of the blanket that I saw they were including through the facebook page. I loved the different animals that you could potentially receive. I think mine is a brown lamb, or a bear, either way it is very soft and cute. They aren’t as big as I was expecting though so I’m not sure when I’ll use it, might just be a shoulder wrap for me, rather than a blanket. Discovered the truth, its a llama apparently, at least I think that’s what the book was saying.IMG_0178

The second item that I picked out of the box was the clear plastic jug. It’s a decent enough quality and will be handy for keeping fresh water by my bed, but not something I necessarily need. I will use it occasionally but to be honest, it’s a little useless. It’s a jug, that’s it.

The next two items go together and are again fairly useless to me. One is a really pretty little toothbrush. It’s a little small and so it would be fine for children, but not much good for me. Also, I use an electric toothbrush so I didn’t really need a spare. The electric toothbrush also makes the Hello Kitty toothbrush holder a little pointless. I like the designs of them both and might use them on my crafts, a pencil holder and a paint scrubber, I don’t know but I’ll find a use for them.

The next item I really want to try out as soon as I can, it’s a tea infuser. I know, not very exciting but I want to see how it fairs with some leaf teas. I don’t expect much from it as it seems a little flimsy. The rubber of the strawberry doesn’t seem very sturdy, but I love the overall design. IMG_0183

Next up is the most useable item of the box. Two microfiber cloths. They have a cute Kumamon design on them and they are something I was really needing for my trip back to university that is coming up. My previous cleaning cloths were thrown away so now I have one for the bathroom and one for the bedroom. It’s odd that I’m happiest about cleaning cloths but hey, they’re practical.

The final addition to the box is a kittle ornament. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be a key ring or a hanging ornament but I know you get one with every box. They’re cute and even though it isn’t Christmas themed, I will probably collect them and hang them on my tree.IMG_0182

That’s it for this month’s box, I’m going to keep my subscription for another month to see how I feel with the next box. This one was fun and cute but a lot of the items were a bit useless. I’ll keep with it as it was a lot of fun to open, but I can’t justify spending almost £25 a month on the box if the items don’t become useful.

I hope you liked my little review, if there is anything else you would like to know please feel free to ask!
